A Sign of Times to Come?

This past weekend we took our younger son to a reception held by Texas Tech University.  He is beginning the process of deciding what he is going to do after he graduates from high school. So what is the problem with that?  Not much at this point, but in Texas there are the Big 3 when you are choosing a state university to pursue an engineering degree.  Some would say there is only one choice--and it is not Texas Tech or UT.  If you are from Texas you probably know what I'm talking about!

If your older brother is at Texas A&M, then you could have a little sibling rivalry!  Gig 'Em!

Now on to some stamping because that is why you are here!!!  I ran into a dilemna with the backorder of the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit.  I had a Halloween Class scheduled for this coming Saturday featuring the Googly Ghouls stamp set and the treat kits.  Enter Plan B--create a new set of projects for the class.  Here is a sneak peek of what's in store for Saturday.

Celebrate!  It's Friday!!

Missing You

This time of year always makes me miss my family.  For more than 25 years I have lived over 1600 miles from my "Home, Home".  I've never been able to have Thanksgiving with my family since I left Upper Michigan.  When the boys were growing up there was never enough time to make the long trip during their school break.  So, here's a card for my Mom.  I miss you.

The sketch layout is from Create with Connie and Mary (again!) from their first  Holiday 2012 Challenge (CCMCHOL12-01).  As a subscriber you have the opportunity to win a free subcscription to several weeks of wonderful ideas.  Who wouldn't like to win something like that?  Sign me up!

If you would like to make this card you can find all the stamping supplies at my Stampin' Up Demonstrator Website, www.stampingalamode.stampinup.net.

CCMC217

Create with Connie and Mary is one of my favorite sites.  They have such a great design team.  I was able to put together a card using the latest sketch using inspiration from Connie's card.  I liked how she had used three images as the focal point. I decided to use the Perfectly Preserved stamp set and the Orchard Harvest DSP for my card.

As we head into Fall I find that I am getting anxious about how quickly time flies.  It seems that we get rushed into Christmas and don't get to thoroughly enjoy all the days that lead up to it. Maybe it's because the stores are already decorating and stocking the shelves for Christmas.  Wouldn't you love to go back to your childhood days when you were able to enjoy life one day at a time?

Enjoy your Fall day where ever you are!

Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge #82

Today is Tuesday and it's going to be a stampin' day.  Yesterday I made a card for the challenge at the Try Stampin' On Tuesday blog.  It was another simple sketch that I found out there in the blogisphere.  More banners too!  I just had to add the leaf and button to the card for a little interest.  Don't you just love the new Orchard Harvest DSP?  Fall is in the air!

Busy Days and Cooler Weather

Have you every wondered when things would slow down and you could get a little break?  Thank goodness I don't work outside the house or we'd all fall apart at the Fritz residence.  Last week my older son had a minor glitch at college--he lost his wallet somewhere between classes.  What a tough lesson to learn.  Luckily Mom and Dad were able to help him wade through the process of getting everything replaced albeit a little long distance.  He was able to come home for the weekend after getting a replacement driver's license.  It was so good to see him even though he has only been away for two weeks.

I haven't done any stamping since last week but here is a gift bag I made a few weeks ago.  I love this color combination of Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry.  Rich Razzleberry is one of my favorite Stampin' Up colors.  What is your favorite color?

We are enjoying cooler weather in Texas this morning. I opened the window so my kitty, Scamp, could enjoy the fresh air on her windowsill perch.  She already had her morning foray outdoors and had come in to be with her best dog friend.

Thanks for visiting!

Card Buffet Remnant

Here is a quick card from my card buffet a couple of weeks ago. I thought the black and white was a classic look.  I'm still trying to sort through my leftovers from the card buffet.  My house is a wreck!  Recently we had flooring company come in to give us as estimate to redo all our floors.  I was told that I would be responsible to pack up everything one person could move.  When I look at my crafting corner I shudder to think of trying to sort through it all.  Yikes!

Well, the three day weekend is over and everyone is back to their usual schedule. Have a great week!

ColourQ meets Fab Friday (cQc152 & FabFri01)

Happy Labor Day!  Hopefully, everyone is enjoying that day off work and are not laboring on Labor Day. Today I have a card that was inspired by Colour Q and the new Fab Friday sketch challenge.  When I looked at the sketch I decided that my new Lacy & Lovely set might make for a simple card.  I dug through my old DSP to find something to fit with the color scheme and found a bit of gray in the Walk in the Park DSP from a couple of years ago.  It was tough to work in the Crumb Cake but I ended up using a small button in that color.  I must say I like how this card turned out.  It might be a good one to use for a Stamp-a-Stack class or a card buffet.

Postage Due Thank You

Vintage style can be quite beautiful.  I don't do much in the distressed arena.  Today I went out on a limb and scrunched my seam binding, frayed the ends of it and even added a bit of torn paper. I have a friend who just doesn't do the torn thing. (Don't pass out, Linda!)  I am overdue on thank you's for my milestone birthday.  Why is it so hard to get a card or two in the mail?  This seems to typify most stampers--they love to create but never end up giving their cards away.  The sketch layout for this card was from Freshly Made Sketches although I violated the rules by distressing my card (just slightly)!

Yesterday my husband and I went on an early morning bike ride along the San Antonio River.  We started at Mission Concepcion, one of the five missions that are in our city.  Do you believe that this was the first time I had been to this mission and I have lived in San Antonio for 25 years?!  It has a simple beauty about it.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Sunday!

Double Dipping--CCMC216 and SSSC166

It's another Halloween card with slightly unusual colors.  This is the same color combo I used for the previous challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.  I struggled a bit with the layers on this card.  Now I remember why I don't buy very many stamping wheels.  I can never get them to roll straight!  This was an older wheel that was retired last year I think.  Maybe I would be better off to take the rubber stamp off the wheel and turn it into a clear mount stamp.   Have you ever done this?

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Toxic Treats, Retired Jumbo Wheel
Paper:  Midnight Muse, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, International Bazaar DSP, Comfort Cafe DSP, Polka Dot Parade DSP, Silver Glimmer Paper
