Mojo Monday 256--I thought it was Friday?

It really is Friday already!  This week there was plenty of inspiration for card making out on my favorite stamping blogs.  I have lots of great ideas swirling around in my head for cards and projects, now if only I would sit down and get busy.  Last night I did put together a card for the MOJO Monday challenge.  It is hotter than all get out here in San Antonio but I am really feeling in the mood for Halloween.  Fall is my favorite time of the year.  It is when I miss home (Upper Michigan) the most.  Over the years I have learned to appreciate the Texas Fall and the burnt oranges of the oak trees when they turn colors.

I couldn't resist using the little mummy from the Googly Ghouls stamp set again.  I started out thinking I would use the Toxic Treats set but changed my mind at the last minute.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Googly Ghouls
Paper:  Basic Gray, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango
Accessories:  Neutal Buttons, 1/8" Black Taffeta Ribbon, Textured Impressions Designer Frames embossing folders, Rhinestone brad (retired)

CCMC215

Can't believe it is already Wednesday.  The last 4 days have been a whirlwind.  On Friday my oldest son came back from his trip to Grandma's and had to pack up to return to college.  Let's just say that Mom was the only one stressed about getting things rounded up.  Saturday I held a card buffet for a great group of stampers and Sunday was move out/move in day for my son.  We were planning to send him off on his own but there was just too much stuff and too little car!  My husband and I ended up making the trip too.  Thank goodness we only had a 3 hour drive each way.

Today I rushed to make a card to participate in the challenge at Create with Connie and Mary (CCMC215).  I like starting with a card layout.  It is a little easier to get your creative juices flowing.  Without further ado, here is the card I made this morning.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamp Set:  You're Amazing
Paper:  Midnight Muse, Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink:  Midnight Muse, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Lattice embossing folder, Vintage Trinkets

Plane & Simple

Most cardmakers seem to struggle with creating masculine cards.  Stampin' Up has a wide range of stamp sets but I wish they would add a few more manly stamps.  This Plane & Simple set was in one of last year's mini catalogs.  Unfortunately it didn't make the cut for the new catalog.   My card was a CASE from Big Sky Paper and Design.  There are so many great ideas out in blogland that I tend to do my fair share of CASEing.  Why reinvent the wheel so to say?  I am still trying to develop my "style" but I don't want my cards to always have the same look.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Plane & Simple
Paper: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Retired DSP
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray
Accessories: Large Oval punch, Satin Ribbon (non-SU)

Proud as a Peacock

Last Friday I took my youngest son to get his Senior portrait taken.  He wasn't so thrilled about the process, but I told his he needed to do it for his mom.  If you think it's difficult to raise young children, wait 'til you have to let them go.  You just hope you did your job right and that they will make good decisions as they make their way in the world.  Both of my sons make me proud as a peacock.

I wish I could remember whose blog I saw this card layout on. I thought it was Julie Davison's since her style is pretty streamlined.  No fuss but still eye-catching.  The original card used the Moving Foward stamp set which I replicated before I switched it up and used the World Treasures set.  If you know who created the original card, please let me know.  I used plenty of bling on the peacock's tail feathers.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: World Treasures
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, International Bazaar DSP, Polka Dot Parade
Ink:  Pacific Point
Accessories:  1/8" Rich Razzleberry Stitched Grosgrain, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Square Lattice Embossing Folder

Here is the original idea and my modified version.

This sketch was from Try Stampin' on Tuesday but I missed the deadline to link it to the site.  Guess I was too busy eating birthday banana creme pie last night!  The Floral District DSP is filled with bright colors and a varied mix of patterns.  I really like the mix of Rich Razzleberry and Baja Breeze.

A Banner Birthday

Way back after the SU Leadership Conference I earned the incentive offered for recruiting.  Make a Cake is a cute little stamp set and the coodinating Pool Party DSP has some fun prints.

Life is a Daring Adventure

The card for today is another sneak peek up my upcoming card buffet.  The quote on it is sometimes all too true.  My card was inspired by a design from Mindy Backes, one of the Artisan Award Top 20 Finalists.  I dug through some of my retired  accessories, looking for just the right brad.  Do you remember the Hodgepodge Hardware?   Well, I have two full, unused boxes sitting on my shelf....They will be put to good use after all.

Stamps:  Daring Adventure
Paper: Lucky Limeade, Basic Gray, Whisper White, InColor DSP, Twitterpated DSP

Sewing Goodness

Today's post is not stamping related.  Recently I paid a surprise visit to my Mom.  She was expecting my oldest son to visit her for the month of August but she didn't expect me.  With the boys getting older, family vacations are slowly becoming a thing of the past.  I decided to take a sewing project with me instead of stamping supplies.  I had found a cute pattern online from Vand Co. called the Abby Bag.  My mom and I worked on the first one together.  Once it was finished it was so cute we had to make another.....and another.....and another.  We made five in all!

Ironically, I saw this bag on another stamper's blog in a photo from the SU Convention.  The seamstress had used Stampin' Up fabrics to make her bag.  I have entertained the idea of selling these bags online.  What would you pay for a handmade tote/shopping bag like this?

Ghoulishly Fun-CCMC213

Here is a card I made using the card layout at Create with Connie and Mary.  The Googly Ghouls bundle for making treats has twice as many stamping diecuts as treat bags.  I will be having a Halloween class in September and want to offer ideas for using the kit extras. Plus, I just love the banner trend--I would put a banner or two on all my cards if I could!  This is a great layout.  I may get out another stamp set and give it another try tomorrow.

A special note to Cheryl--don't fall over when you see that I have posted four days in a row!  What can I say.  It has been eons since I had posted anything.  I'm trying to get into the swing of posting on a regular basis.  You know what they way about good intentions.....time will tell.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Googly Ghouls
Paper:  Basic Gray, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP
Ink:  Basic Black
Accessories:  Spider Web Embossing Folder, 1/8" Gray stitched grosgrain

Christmas in 3-D

This will be the last installment showing the projects from my Christmas in July class.  These 3-D projects are suitable for giving small gifts.  The kraft bag is a direct CASE from the Holiday Catalog.  It wasn't too difficult to make.  The trick was lining up the scallop circles in the tree shape.  The kraft box was a CASE from a Stampin' Up sample I saw on a U.K. demonstrator's blog.  I changed it from a Spring theme to Christmas.  I would have preferred to use SU's wide striped grosgrain ribbon but it is no longer available.  Instead I used the new 7/8" cotton ribbon.

Here is a close up of the kraft box.  Notice the bit of the new Champagne Glimmer Paper.  Beautiful!

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Joyous Celebrations, Watercolor Winter, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Garden Green, Be of Good Cheer DSP, Champagne Glimmer Paper
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Early Espresso, Garden Green
Accessories:  1-1/4" Scallop Circle punch, 3/4" Circle punch, 1-3/4" Circle punch, Merry Minis Punch Pack, Lacy Brocade Embossing folder, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, 7/8" Cotton Ribbon, 3/8" Double-stitched Gumball Green ribbon, Brushed Bronze Buttons, Naturals Designer Buttons, Gumball Green Sweater Trim, Linen Thread, Basic Pearls, Kraft box, Kraft bag (non-SU)

No Peeking

The "No Peeking" stamp set called my name when I first looked at the new catalog back in June.  I put together a set of tags for my Christmas in July class.  The little Christmas characters are just too cute.  These would make a great little gift set.
